Well, I am now 30 weeks pregnant - in the home stretch! I can see an end; although, it's still several weeks away. Boy am I ready!! I'm getting more and more uncomfortable! All you other Mommies know what I'm talking about: can't find a comfortable position to sleep, feeling full all the time, can't bend down or even walk gracefully anymore (I am pretty clumsy to begin with, so I have no chance with this one), and getting up and down from a chair can be a chore in itself! All of this, along with the contractions and cramping that I'm feeling, can be exhausting; although, I know having a newborn will be a whole new level of complete exhaustion, so I need to watch before I complain too much!
I am now going to the doctor every two weeks, which is an indication that we are getting closer and closer to the big day. With the day fast approaching, I am starting to get anxious about the delivery, especially because of what happened last time. However, it's good that this time around, Dr. Williams is aware of my history and can keep a close eye on me.
At my appointment this morning, Luke's heart rate was 145, and my belly is measuring perfectly for 30 weeks. Everything is right on track! So far, I've gained a total of 20 lbs, which is less than I had at this point with Hudson, so maybe Lucas will be a smaller baby. We'll see! However, my doctor did say that a few pounds of the weight gain last time was from extra water retention I had due to the extreme summer heat. I know this is true because I still have ankles! At this point last time, my feet and ankles were SO SWOLLEN... I called them my elephant feet. I had to elevate them every evening to help with the swelling. Maybe I'll be lucky to avoid that unpleasant (and unattractive) symptom this time around!
Your pregnancy seems to be going by so quickly (for me anyways)! Little Luke will be here before you know it! I've almost forgotten what it was like to be pregnant, but then to hear you describe how you're feeling makes it seem like it was just yesterday!
