Blue Angels

Today we went with Matthew's parents to watch the Blue Angels air show. It's right by our house, so every year on this weekend we can hear the planes overhead for a few hours. This is the first time we've actually been out to the show, and Hudson LOVED it! He thought it was so cool! I wasn't sure how he'd react to the noise, since they're very loud, but he really enjoyed it and even started saying "louder, louder". Hudson loves airplanes just like his Daddy!

Looking at the jets with Mimi before they take off

Wow!

The sun is in my eyes! (But I don't want to wear my sunglasses anymore...)

Look at the planes!

That one went by very fast in front of me! Look at the smoke... Enjoying the show with Mimi & Papa
Having so much fun!

Brothers: 6 Months Old

Luke's Half Birthday

Luke is 6 MONTHS OLD... already!!

Here's what Luke is doing at 6 months old:
  • He's wearing 6-9 month clothes.
  • He's eating two meals a day, along with his milk: fruit with oatmeal for lunch and veggies with rice cereal for dinner. He's on Stage 2 foods. He was really only on stage one for about a day... it just wasn't enough for him.
  • He's not a fan of green beans or peas, but he will usually eat peas ok. Green beans need to be mixed with something or he'll gag... poor guy! Everything else he loves!
  • Still taking two naps a day...Short one in the morning and longer one in the afternoon.
  • He can sit up well now. Still falls back every once in a while, but he's getting the hang of it.
  • He enjoys rolling around on the ground and is realizing he can get around this way.
  • He tries to pull himself forward with his arms. He's not strong enough to pull himself very much, but it's obvious he wants to go somewhere. He has also tried to put his legs underneath him like he wants to crawl, but of course, he's not strong enough for that yet either.
  • Luke enjoys listening to himself talk. He like to make sounds and coo. He especially like to squeal when he's happy. He's putting sounds together, and I've heard him say 'mamama' a couple times now.
  • He's starting to reach out his arms to be picked up... precious!
  • He's a happy baby who enjoys to laugh and play with his big brother!
  • Mommy calls him Bubbie.  Hudson is Bubba, so Bubbie just seemed to fit!
  • He recently started to get a little separation anxiety with Mommy. He can be completely content playing with a toy, but if he sees Mommy walk by him he wants me to pick him up.
With big brother...

The Pumpkin Express

Today we ventured out for some more pumpkin picking fun! After enjoying a family breakfast at Mimi's Cafe, we headed to a pumpkin patch in Flower Mound that I had heard about. However, when driving up it didn't look very much fun, and it was miserably crowded, so we opted out of this one to try something else... The Pumpkin Express. Boy are we glad we did!! We've been to three different pumpkin patches in the past couple years, and this was our favorite by a long shot! We enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, the nice huge open area for the pumpkin patch fun, lots of fun things to do, and as an added bonus, it wasn't overly crowded which gave plenty of space to play and enjoy the scenery! I heard about this place last year, but we didn't make it out there, so I'm glad we discovered it this year. We decided that this will be our regular pumpkin patch to visit each year.

You enter The Pumpkin Express through the train depot and then ride the 10 minute ride through fields, around a duck filled lake, over bridges, under trees and then arrive at the pumpkin patch. It was a beautiful, peaceful and a thoroughly enjoyable ride.

When you arrive, each kid gets to pick out their very own small pumpkin and a sucker. The patch is stocked with little red wagons for pumpkin picking along with a bunch of things to do with the kids. There is a hay maze, play train, a variety of playhouses, jump houses, a teeter totter, a "haunted house" (that wasn't too scary for the kids), a hay “stack”, and of course, the train. Other than the train ride, Hudson's favorite part, by far, was the hay maze! He was running all through it, and when he came to a dead end, he'd shout "No" laughing while turning around to find another path. I really enjoyed watching him conquer this! After about 5 minutes of doing it himself (with Mommy and Daddy watching from outside), he got frustrated and a little scared since he could see us, so I joined him running through each direction with him until he found his way out.

There were also tons of fun exhibits and things to look at (which each Mommy out there considers a great photo op).

We can't wait to visit The Pumpkin Express next year! At that time, Luke and Huds will be running through the maze together!

All ready for some fall fun...
