We had our well visit today with Dr. Karimi because Hudson's pediatrician, Dr. Saksena, is out for a couple weeks. We really like Dr. Karimi though, as we've seen her a couple times before. She is actually the pediatrician that Hudson's cousin, Megan, goes to. Hudson only had one shot today, which was great. Other than the shot, Hudson had a good time at the doctor's visit. Dr. Karimi said that Hudson is doing perfect, and she also mentioned that he's very smart and handsome!
Hudson's measurements at 18 months:
Height: 34 inches (90th percentile)
Weight: 25 lbs 10 oz (50th percentile)
Head: 49.5 cm (90th percentile)
I realized that my old camera was still in his diaper bag, so I snapped a few pics of Hudson at the doc while he was naked waiting for the doctor.
I'm not going to get another shot this time, am I?
A few things we will remember about Hudson at 18 months:
- Two and three word phrases are becoming more common in Hudson's speech. At this point, Mommy has totally lost track of all of his new words, but here are a couple off the top of my head: bubble, hat, "big boy", golf club (Daddy proudly taught him that one), "rio rio" (Cheerios), pool, "right there".
- Hudson doesn't like his hands dirty. When we go to the park, and he gets a bunch of dirt on his hands, he will run over to us to wipe it off for him.
- Hudson will now call for us when he wakes up in the morning. He will call out "Dada" or "Mommy" to let us know that he's awake and ready to get up!
- Hudson loves, loves, loves the outdoors! No matter how the temperature or weather is, he prefers to be running around outside!
- Hudson loves to be read to! He will often bring me a book that he wants me to read to him.

-Husdon has started this new shrieking squeal noise where he screams/shrieks at the top of his lungs. For some reason, he usually does it in the car, which is the most confined place to do it, and the most cruciating for Mommy & Daddy's ears. I guess we can consider ourselves lucky that he doesn't do it in public. He's not angry when he does it; he's happy, but he just thinks it fun to do this. .. particularly because we laughed the first time he did it, which, of course egged him on. So now, we try to keep a straight face and ignore it because then he will stop because it's not as much fun when he doesn't get a reaction. So far, this is working because he's slowing down on doing this.
- Last week, we went to see our friends, The Terry's who just had a new baby. When we left, Hudson said "Bye Bye, Baby", which we though was precious, so we were saying it to him in the car on the way home so he'd repeat it. Now, he thinks he needs to say this; therefore, he will often say "Bye Bye, Baby" when we are leaving the house.
- Hudson loves to be read to! He will often bring me a book that he wants me to read to him.
After our doctor appointment, we visited Memere & Opa who had a little present for Hudson today - a transportation sound puzzle. Hudson loved this! He enjoyed the noises it made.
Opening his gift with Memere
This puzzle makes sounds!
