In the Eyes of a Child

With this being a week dedicated to giving thanks, I heard a song today that really made me thankful for my sweet children. The chorus:

"In the eyes of a child, there is joy, there is laughter
There is hope, there is trust, a chance to shape the future
For the lessons of life, there is no better teacher
Than the look in the eyes of a child"

I am so thankful to have such wonderful boys who teach me perspective. Looking into my children's eyes brings me such happiness- their overwhelming joy, laughter and delight is a constant reminder of the important things in life- happiness! I am so thankful God gave me these boys and for the cheerfulness they bring! It's so refreshing to watch them completely overjoyed to take part in this big new world around them- everything is a fun new adventure. The pure innocence of relying entirely on me and Matthew, mimicking our every word or action, is priceless. Looking to us to teach them everything we know because, to them, "Mommy & Daddy know everything!".... If only they knew how wrong that is!

If only I was a child again... I miss looking at life through the eyes of a child. I wish I could go back and do it all over again with more appreciation for the innocence, pureness of life. Just think about how nice it would be to make a bad decision only to face the consequence of two minutes in time out (and that being a big deal!).

Thank you, Lord, for my children's ability to enjoy life through the eyes of a child!
