Hudson had his first team soccer practice on Tuesday evening. It went even better than Matthew or I had expected! Hudson had so much fun! He wore his soccer jersey that Mimi and Papa got him in Austria when on vacation a couple years ago. He is just now able to fit into it, which is perfect timing. He was extremely excited to where this jersey and even ran up and showed the coach what he was wearing. He calls it his "Number 10" jersey. His head coach is Coach Eric, and he has two assistant coaches, Coach John and Coach Matthew (aka Daddy!). Matthew was delighted when Eric asked him to coach, and Matthew will be taking over coaching one of the games in October all by himself while the other two coaches will be out of town (they are brothers).
Coach Eric started practice with a game where the kids got to know each other's name. Then he warmed them up by jogging, then kicked the ball to each other and learned to stop the ball with their foot. The last drill for the day was kicking the ball in the goal, which is Hudson's favorite part! It was so cute because each time Hudson completed a drill successfully he would run over to me on the sideline yelling "Mommy, Look! I did it! Did you see what I did?" He was the only kid who did this, which I thought was precious! I have a feeling he might do this during the game when he accomplishes something.
All ready for our first soccer practice
We got to practice early, so these first few pictures are just goofing around before the practice begins. Here's Hudson showing his head coach, Eric, how he can score a goal!
"Mommy, Did you see what I just did?" One of the many times he ran over to me, declaring his accomplishments!
I'm not sure why, but Hudson quickly became attached to this Chuck E Cheese ball, which was one that the coach brought as extras.
All the little ones joined in on the pre-practice play, including Luke.
Coach Eric began the practice with an introduction and "get to know your teammates" activity
Coach Eric telling Hudson "Great Job!"
Running to tell Mommy he made a goal!
Water (and apple juice) break
Best Friends!
Luke and I watching from the sidelines (and Trevor in the background)
They're precious together!
Two proud Dads!
The after practice meeting- "Way To Go, Team!"
Goooooo....
Frogs!
Kisses goodbye
Tonight was the 2nd practice, and the kids received their new jerseys. Hudson is number six- what a great number!!
Hudson was so cute at practice today because he was standing kinda weird, and I was looking at him not figuring out what he was doing until I looked at Matthew... He was standing just like his Daddy was while Daddy was on the field coaching a couple of the other players. He wants to be just like Daddy! How precious!!!
