Hudson's pre-K teachers hold a parent/teacher conference to discuss the child's progress, strengths and recommended items to do over the summer to help prepare them for Kindergarten. Hudson's teachers are extremely impressed with Hudson's involvement and learning ability, especially being he's the youngest in the class. They said he's definitely ready for Kindergarten! But, of course, he won't be in Kindergarten at the elementary school next year due to his birthday. He'll be in the Kindergarten program at Northwood, which we've heard loads of great reviews about! Ms. Melani said that one of her and Ms. Kim's favorite things about Hudson is his passion to learn! When he gets something right or accomplishes a task, he gets so excited "Look, Look Ms. Melani... I DID IT!" How cute!! They said this warms their heart, and they love his enthusiasm! They also said that he is well liked with all his classmates. I didn't doubt this! Our chatty, laid-back boy is bound to make friends with everyone! I'm so proud of my boy and am excited for what lies ahead in his "first" year of Kindergarten!
Now I need to brag on Luke a little! In the 2's class they don't do a formal conference like they do in the 3's and 4's. But they send home a sheet detailing skills how each child is progressing with certain skills and knowledge, and he is doing fantastic! In fact, the teachers have taken me aside a few times to brag that he is the model student in class. He is the only one that can recognize all his letters and knows their sound. He is also considered their "go to" student. They said that they will often tell his classmates to follow what Luke is doing or watch Luke. For instance, he is the one who listens to and follows instructions and helps clean up whenever the teachers are cleaning (without request). He is their helping hand in the class. Luke had a substitute last week, and Ms. Nancy said that the sub was praising about how good and cooperative of a student Luke was. I witnessed this when I went up to his class today for his class birthday party. When the teachers asked the class to sit at the table to eat cupcakes, Luke was the only one who recognized his name (each chair was labeled with their names), he sat in his seat and waited for instruction. Being that Luke is either the youngest or one of the youngest in his class, I'm so proud of the praise we've been receiving from his teachers! Now if I can just get this much help and obedience at home!! :)
