Mommy & Daddy Weekend

My parents offered to watch the boys for us this weekend, so Matthew and I could have a weekend together.  What a treat!  We had an incredible time!

On Friday night, we went to a Fort Worth restaurant that I've heard a lot about and have been wanting to try - Buttons .  This was a fantasitc choice!  The award winning chef, Keith "Buttons" Hicks, serves southern comfort dishes or "food for the soul".  For an appetizer, we ordered fried green tomoatoes, and they were incredible!!  For dinner, I enjoyed their signature dish "chicken and waffles".  Chicken and waffles?  Hmmm.... This would not have been my first choice had it not come highly recommended from a couple friends.  Boy was I glad I tried it!  It was awesome!  Fried chicken and waffles toped with berries and served with syrup for dipping - the perfect combination of sweet and salty.  Matthew tried the pork chops, which he absoltely loved too!  We made it in time for happy hour and enjoyed a couple coctails with our meal as well.

On Saturday, we slept in as long as we want, which was until around 9:00 for me.  This was very nice!  Then grabbed a coffee and drove around looking a houses for a little while.  Then we came home a got ready for the day.  We drove to Plano and ate lunch at Breadwinners.  After that, we decided to drive by the new In-N-Out burger that just opened last week to see what all the big hype was about.  We knew it would be crowded to just drove by without stopping to check out all the burger fanatics waiting in line (approximately a 2-3 hour wait we were told).  We then went to the shops of Legacy where we strolled around before enjoying happy hour at Sambuca.  Sambuca has a fabulous strawberry mojito that I love!  We then watched a movie at the Angelika - Everything Must Go.  It was ok. Entertaining but nothing great.  It was probably the best choice out of our options though.  There are no good movies out right now.  For dinner, we went to Nicola's .  This was another wonderful choice!  I went here a couple months ago with my friends, Jennifer and Courtney, and wanted to come back.  I ordered the ravaoli cappellacci di zucca (pumpkin ravioli), which was delicious.  Matthew also enjoyed his plate of rigatoni alla zarina.

Sunday morning was another opportunity to sleep in, which I will never turn down.  Being pretty full from all of our fabulous meals we enjoyed the past two days, we were too hungry for breakfast, so we went to Mimi's and each ordered an iced coffee and a honey bran muffin for breakfast (to go).  We drank our coffees in the car while driving around looking at houses again.  We drove around for a couple hours this time.  We really enjoy doing this!  It was a fun and relaxing morning.  We found a couple house prospects, but haven't made an appointment to go look at them just yet.

We were both very excited to see our boys on Sunday afternoon!  Seeing them was the perfect ending to our much needed fun, relaxing, culinary filled, fantastic weekend!
