Well, Mr. Lucas has been in this world for 4 days now! We had our check-up with the doctor this morning. She said that everything looks wonderful, and he's a beautiful, healthy baby boy. I did notice one thing the other night that she checked out... Luke has a tongue tie, which is gratefully no big deal. She referred us to an ear, nose and throat doctor who can just clip it. She mentioned that if we want to do something about it that right now is best because they don't need to use any anesthetics at this point. It's kind of like a circumcision in that it's quick and easy as a newborn. She said that Luke's is a really mild case, and some cases like this fix on their own, so we'll see what the specialist recommends for us - our appointment is set for next Tuesday afternoon. The good thing is that it hasn't affected his nursing at all. Lots of times with this, babies have a difficult time latching on to nurse, but since Luke's case is mild it hasn't affected him so far. The funny thing is that Hudson had a funny thing in his mouth at birth also, except his was on the roof of his mouth. It went away on it's own after a few months. We're so blessed that neither one has been a big deal.
Luke's measurements today were:
Weight: 8 lbs 9 oz (48th percentile)
Length: 20.5 in (65th percentile)
Head: 37 cm (66th percentile)
We love, love, love our baby boy! He's so sweet!
Emily was tongue-tied too as a baby. We had our pediatrician clip it just to take care of it. It literally took 2 minutes and she slept through the majority of it. No big deal! :)
