Independence Day

We had a fabulous time celebrating this year!

Sunday evening, the Carlson's joined us at the Rockin' Roanoke 4th of July festival.  It was such a great time and even better than I had expected!  They had so many fun activities for the kids including bounce houses, inflatable basketball hoops, inflatable "sumo" wrestling, a playground, rock climbing wall, childrens train, live music, Dickey's BBQ, and a fantastic fireworks show. They had so much to offer that we didn't even see it all.  The celebration was held just behind the Roanoke fire department, so while we were waiting for the fireworks to begin we walked over to see the fire trucks and visit with the firemen.  We had a perfect spot to watch the fireworks on a grassy hill next to the fire station.  Before the show, we enjoyed relaxing, visiting and watching the kids play.  This was the best 4th of July event I've been to, and we plan on making this a family tradition every year!

I brought my camera but forgot the memory card in the computer, so I snapped a few pics with my phone while we were there.

He sometimes calls her "My Kelsey"

Monday morning we relaxed and slept in (since we didn't go to bed until close to midnight the night before).  Matthew's parents came over for lunch so we could celebrate Vicki's birthday.  We had a wonderful time visiting with them and spending the 4th with family.  These are a few pics from that evening while the kids were playing and Daddy was watching the hot dog eating contest.  I know - gross!

This picture is taken by our little photographer, Hudson.  He wanted to take some pictures, and he was actually pretty good at it!
